my life as me

Shalom.

Back at home, i'm really a TV addict. When we were young, my sisters and i used to fight over which programme that we would watch. Sometimes Dad joined us. Haha. But here at campus i don't watch TV. Almost a year it has been and at most i've went to watch TV at my hostel's living room is twice. I need to hold the remote control when watching TV. haha. So,

1. Criminal Minds- never get bored watching whodunnit series.
2. CSI: Miami- Horatio. H. and his eyes. hahaha.
3. America's Next Top Model. for beauty tips and all. hahaha.
4. Jamie Oliver's, Masterchef, and every cooking show there is. typical food addict. hahahahaha.
5. Project Runway. for keeping up with trends.
6. Nurkasih- The only Malay series that i la-huv!
7. Classic and 1990s and 2000s' Hindi movies.
9. The Voice.
10. So Youn Think You Can Dance.
11. Documentaries. Especially about food. Sadly we don't have any History channel. Has persuaded to subscribe but to no avail. sobsss.

And the list goes on. hihi.

Shalom.

Ni post pertama menggunakan Bahasa Kebangsaan. Yayyy me! Ooops. Haha.

Namun begitu, menyerah kalah bukanlah pegangan saya.

How to Write Reflection Essay

Posted by Splice, Essay Tips Chief Writer
How to Write a Reflection Essay. Basically, writing a reflection essay is a good exercise to sharpen your critical thinking skills. You have to understand what it is that you have to reflect on before proceeding with the essay, otherwise you will only lose track of your ideas or, worse, you will not be able to write anything that will make sense. Keep in mind that a reflection essay is more like a journal where you jot down your thoughts or how you feel about a certain topic. Your topic may be a film, a book, an event, or just about anything.

Before starting with your reflection essay, ask yourself a couple of questions, such as: how do I feel about this topic? How does it affect me, if it does at all? If it doesn't affect me, why? Notice that the questions are all personal. That is because a reflection essay asks you to express your insights. Knowing the answers to these personal questions can help you begin your reflection essay. Do not limit yourself to these three questions. Explore more that asks you to state your opinion. Leave out the facts first. Concentrate on your insights.

After having the answers to the personal questions stated above, list your answers. Thereafter, summarize them into a single sentence. This will be your main controlling idea or central thesis which will guide you throughout the rest of your reflection essay. With your thesis statement, identify the arguments or ideas that will support it. You may expand or write more about each supporting idea in a paragraph. Each of these paragraphs will then be the body of your essay. Try to include factual statements in these body paragraphs, such as what you have observed, so that your claims are well supported. Sufficient reference to facts is a good way of giving substance to your reflections.

After you have finished writing the body paragraphs of your reflection essay, return to your personal questions. This time, however, ask yourself as if you are trying to confirm what you have written: is this how I truly feel about this topic? Is this how it did affect me, if it did at all? If it didn't affect me, why? This is a matter of reaffirming your honesty in writing your reflection essay. You should only provide your truthful reflections, otherwise writing down the things that are far from what you truly felt defeats the very purpose of reflecting on the topic. Also, write down how and why you arrived at your insights. Be consistent and avoid one idea in one paragraph clashing with another idea in another paragraph.

In your reflection essay's conclusion, briefly restate your main insight or thesis. You may end with a question, asking how others might have thought about the same topic. You may also end with a challenge to your readers, such as asking them to reflect on the same topic and ask the same questions. At any rate, what is most important to remember is that a reflection essay is generally a personal assessment of a topic that may or may not affect you and others.

Finding it hard to write a reflective essay? Fret not, here's some comprehensive tips that i've gathered from the net for you.

Reflective Essays

A reflective essay is a form of writing that examines and observes the progress of the writer’s individual experience. While reflective essays explain and analyze the development of the writer, they also discuss future goals. Reflective essays are often associated with academic portfolios and especially writing portfolios. As part of a writing portfolio, reflective essays will critically analyze your development as a student. This should include a discussion of the strengths you have developed as a writer as well as your weaknesses. Closely related to these weaknesses, writers could also discuss how they plan to improve in the future. When writing a reflective essay, it is important to use descriptive language. In doing so, your reader will understand that you are familiar with the subject matter and that you have thought critically about your development as a student. Reflective essays are based upon your own experiences, so it is expected that you write about yourself, your ideas, and your opinions. As a result, it is completely acceptable to use first person pronouns such as “I” or “me” in these essays. Since the reflective essay is built upon personal experience, the writer has the liberty of being as creative as necessary. At the same time, do not let a focus on creativity take precedence over the important task of proving to your reader how you have grown as a student.

Structure
The structure of a reflective essay is very similar to the structure of most academic writing. Unless you are trying to argue a point, position, or perspective through your reflection, it is not required that your essay contain a thesis statement. Reflective essays can be formatted in all writing styles, including MLA, APA, and Chicago Style. A common structure for reflective essays is as follows:

Introduction
Introductions to reflective essays do not need to be longer than one paragraph in length. When writing an introduction, present the purpose of your reflection without giving your reader too much detail about the body of your paper. In the introduction, it is also helpful to tell your reader if you met your goals or the goals of the class/project. Later, in the body of the reflection, you can explain how these goals were or were not met in greater detail. Think of the introduction as a brief preview to the rest of your reflection.

Body
The body should discuss in detail your development as a student. For instance, if writing a reflective essay at the end of the quarter for a certain class, how did you grow over the course of the class? What have you learned? Can you apply what you have learned to your future academic or life pursuits? How did you or did you not meet your goals or the goals of the class/project you were involved in? This is slightly different from what you should discuss in your introduction. Do not just tell the reader whether or not you met these goals. Rather, show the reader by using illustrations from class or other relevant experiences. Are there any skills you can improve on? If so, how do you plan on doing so in the future?

Conclusion
In the conclusion of a reflective essay, you should remind the reader of the ways in which you have developed as a student. This may seem redundant since you already discussed these things in detail in your essay’s body, but remember that the conclusion is the last thing your audience will read. As a result, leave no doubt in the reader’s mind that your essay clearly demonstrates how you have grown.

Ya ya ya i know. it's been like forever since the 1st day. hahaha procrastination at its peak. :p

So today's topic is something i feel strongly about. Well i think it's crystal clear that these are them:

Believing in Him who is Jesus. My Savior through whom i am saved.
Treat my old folks good in the future. Mami, Abba and Ini have done a lot for me.
Take care of my little sisters right in the future. Be an exemplary woman to them and find them good husbands. hohoho.
Being a teacher. My calling.
Spread Love and His love.

I know i promised to write on that night but eating went crazy. So, what is it again? 5 Ways To Win Your Heart? You mean, my heart?

LOL.

I'm blushing right now.
I'm not the kind of girl that have all sorts of list for everything though i might have successfully came up with a couple of What To Do On A Sleepless Night, Things To Do Before I Die and Recipes To Master Before I Get Married. Wait. This has gone out of topic, isn't it? So, yeah, here it goes. 5 Ways to Win My Heart.

1. A Devoted Christian.
Regarding relationship between a man and a woman (homaiii this is awkwarddd), akhem, it is my principle that the best gift that a lover could give his/her other one is a walk together to heaven. A man who is Jesus like- righteous, kind, gentle, humble, wise, faithful, loving, caring and henceforth sure is a good match. But yeah, since we're human, it is impossible to find a man as such. Nonetheless, if he is devoted to my Father in heaven, then he can win my heart all over. Imagine a man who is full with Holy Spirit, on fire for Christ and sing to Him wholeheartedly with his guitar- i am in love with him already. 8)

2. Someone who means what he says and says what he means.
Words, sweet talks and promises are cheap. On the other hand, being so confusing also is an annoyance. He is truthful and bold, either in his doings or talkings.

3. Wise.
Nuff said.

4. Protective
Saya insan lemah. hahahaha.

4. Able to cook.
Food and i have this special unbreakable bond. So, if he can cook, that would be le-gen-da-ry. hohoho.

Shalom.

so i am not really good of coming up with ideas. then i stumbled upon this 30 Day Blog Challenge while blogwalking. why not? hoho. will start tonight. but now i have important matter to settle. eat. see you.
Shalom.

BEM (SIB) The Times 8th Anniversary Celebration

Woke up early in the morning to put on my ngepan. and after two laborous hours, wawa and i managed to do  it. reaching The Times, people were all in celebration mood with their traditional attire. but sadly only i was the one who wore in an almost complete set. i thought bro andrew and sis pauline would wear theirs in complete set too. it was a pain, wearing ngepan. nonetheless praise the Lord the celebration went le-gen-da-ry. although i didn't managed to win the huge Cabutan Berkat Hamper, i ate a lot of delicious food during the PotBless. my tummy is soooooooooooooooooooooo happy this morning. but now i'm hungry and will be on my search for food in a moment. hehew. anyways, back to The Times, last time i wondered why people stayed in this church whilst there were other church which bigger and merrier. and with time, i get to understand. Being a The Times member means you are a part of a biggg and loving family. From grandparents to parents, older brothers and sisters to younger siblings and almost children (lol.children.i'm that old) , I HAVE THEM ALL. WE'RE SOOO SPECIAL. i miss Pak Peter though. Hope he is fine. <3

Shalom.

It's been forever, huh? hahaha.
Well, just have the time to write something. A lottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt has happened and is going on while i'm away from here. Here's the update(though i'm pret-ty sure that nobody cares. hahaha what the fish sukahati ku meh ;p )

Then
1. IPGKBL English Language Week Competition (A few weeks ago)
With Ever Ever After, Nfinity Performing Arts Troupe from PISMP BI2 January 2012 managed to get 2nd runner up. Irene and I were the co-directors. Felt a sense of accomplishment though surely No. 1 was the aim. Next year, maybe? Amen. Kudos to my classmates who have worked so hard in making the skit a success. yayyy for us!!! <3

2. Choir and Woman's Day (Last week)
Yep. i joined a choir. A long way i have come since the day i was tone deaf. Spent almost 2 days at Borneo Convention Centre. The CM was there. It was a tearjerking moment. I'm still not sure whether it was because i hate him so much or i love my people so much. Or both? hurm.

3. Assignments (Yesterday)
PRAISE THE LORD they are finished. marked the end of my suffering. YEAH!!!

4. Seni Dalam Pendidikan Exam (This morning)
Kind of laughed all the time during the exam because of my oh-so-'awesome' drawing. How am gonna be a PSV teacher in the future? Save me. sobsss.

Coming Up

1. Life in the Jungle (January 2014)
Will perform as the Kajat Iban dancer. This will be the first time that i dance here in IPK Batu Lintang. The practices are killing me. think it's easy to ngajat? Here i knock some sense into your head. haha. All my bones and muscles are like stones, stiff. Hahaha. Poor mek has to train me from square one.  Life in the Jungle will be staged at the old Dewan Undangan Negeri Building. It's a collaboration of a ballet school (not sure what it's name), SMK St. Theresa and IPGK Batu Lintang. IPGK Batu Lintang trainee teachers have three parts in the production namely choir, Kajat Iban and Sumatran Dance; all is facilitated by Mdm Chong Pek Lin, the niece of the co-writer of Life In The Jungle cum reknown musician, Datin Julia Chong. The theatre will be performed three nights consecutively in January 2014. Will update where's to buy the tickets. Be sure to grab the tickets!!!

2. Pesta Hoki IPGM 2013 (25-27 October 2013)
Hosted by IPGK Bahasa Melayu and will be taking place at Stadium Hoki Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia; both are at Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur. A great opportunity to be away from here. yeah. sobsss. It's only been a few months that i first joined Batu Lintang Hockey Club (BLHC) and there are still a lot of skills to master before going off for the tournament. And we will back on the day of our IPG's Annual Dinner. Dark skin + pastel coloured dress? Majulah sukan untuk negara. +.+"

3. RuNnat (Tomorrow-5th October 2013)
This year marks the fourth time that i participate RuNnat. It's a praying and running event hosted annually in which runners will run 5km and pray for Malaysia, schools, unity, government, world, youngsters and etcetra. This time my route is from EverRise Batu 3 until Boulevard Mall and my group members are Mek, Jenny, Gilbert and someone-whom-i-forget-his/her-name with also-forget as the driver. RunNat is happening tomorrow worldwide!!! Run.Pray.Believe.

4. BEM The Times Anniversary Celebration (This Sunday- 6th October 2013)
This year's theme is Gereja Yang Memberi dan Mengutus with traditional attire as the dress code. Woots i'll be wearing ngepan Iban. hehew. Anyhoo, went to the practice yesterday. Things were looking good. Another practice is due this evening but i can't come. Have to have one last jog before RuNnat.

5. Perkhemahan Pengakap SK & SMK Bahagian Semarahan 2013 (Next Thursday-Sunday)
Some 30 trainee teachers of IPGK Batu Lintang will be the facilitators during this camp. And apparently we will be evaluated for Kursus Manikayu Peringkat 2! Which means things are going fast for Manikayu and next year we can proceed with Peringkat 3a and 3b. Study study study! P/s: yne, please tie your woggle. hahaha.

6. Finals (7-11 November 2013)
Congrats heinny. An exam for a birthday gift. Not bad, aye?

7. IPGKBL Annual Dinner (Pastel Colours: How Memories Are Made- 28th Ocotber 2013)
Bought my dress at Summer Mall and loving it. Cost me RM75 and it's worth it!!! Sobsss. The downside is, the day this happens, i'll be just back from the hockey tournament mentioned before. I don't even dare to imagine how i will look like. Chill ja la. It's not the end of the world tah. +.+

Writing this, i realised that there's much to cope with. B and Z are the letters. Thank God for these opportunities. Yep, i asked to be busy and He answered me these ways. Hopefully with His strength, i can manage to do well in these activities. How about you? Anything fancy's happening? If yes, strive for excellence. If not, enjoy the stillness to stay relaxed with Him.

There's time to stay still
and
time to be, do, and go.
